Dear parent of a loved K-Life student,

Whew! What a whirlwind it has been lately! We hope that your Thanksgiving was joyful & blessed as we all have the opportunity to reflect on the goodness of our God & His sweet provisions in each of our lives. It’s crazy to think how this year, this semester is nearly over already. We cannot believe that December is upon us & we have SO much to look forward to with Springfield K-Life.

Here’s what’s going on…

WE MOVED!

Starting November 30th {tomorrow}, the K-Life Clubhouse will be relocated at AutoWorld of Springfield, which is at the intersection of S. Campbell & the James River Freeway. The address is: 4406 South Campbell Avenue, Springfield, MO 65810 in case you want to GPS/Google Maps it. NEW ROOM. NEW LOCATION. NEW FUN. The heart of K-Life is not dependent on a physical location –but the gathering of this sweet community wherever we are blessed to be. Thank you, Bass Pro Shops, for housing us for all of these years & the opportunities we had on site. But we are looking forward to breaking ground with a new chapter of Springfield K-Life.

…AND ARE HAVING A KICKOFF PARTY!

This Club Tuesday {the 30th} will be a normal gathering & the introduction of a new space. The next week, however, on December 7th, we will be having a Kickoff Bash for all of our students {3rd-12th grade}. Join us for starting the new chapter off right! We will be meeting from 6:30 – 8:00 that night.

JUNIOR HIGH GETAWAY!

If you have a student that’s in 6th to 8th grade, get excited for our fall’s Junior High Getaway this Saturday,December 4th. We will be taking our students down to Harrison, Arkansas, for a little barn-swinging & taking a sweet little pit stop in Branson at the Landing for a little shopping & dinner. For more information, please check the attached permission slip {which will also be available at tomorrow’s Club Tuesday}. We. Are. Excited. We hope you are too!

AND WE CANNOT FORGET SUPER K!

We have missed our favorite little ones the past few weeks. No worries, though, because will be having Super K this Thursday, December 2nd, at AutoWorld. Join us from 4:00 to 5:30 at the new location. And of course, our kickoff bash the following Tuesday.

behind on the times?

has life been absolutely CHAOTIC for you? same here, brother/sister. we have had a lot on the plate lately — and the fun will keep on rolling through the month of november.

what’s been happening with us the past few weeks?

• a rocking barbieshop superclub with our special guest, micah ogden.
• the last super k of the month of october.
• girls’ night in with all of the young ladies of springfield k-life.
• pancake saturday at my {xuan’s} house.
• casino night, ocean’s 11-style.
• the start of november’s theme: perseverance.
• club q & a on the importance of scripture for the heart.

and last but not least — WE ARE MOVING! yes, you read right. springfield k-life is moving from bass pro’s clubhouse over to autoworld of springfield starting at the end of november it has been generously donated for use by one of our board families, the farias.

WOW. get excited. until the meantime, we still have TWO more clubs left at the clubhouse. keep checking the pictures for all of the fun we have been getting ourselves into.

Big changes in store!

Hey ya’ll! Hope that everyone has had a GREAT week(end). We cannot believe that we have just completed our 2nd month within K-Life Ministries & have been SO blessed & encouraged along the way. Clubs are booming — the cooler weather ushering kids inside sooner for some wonderful controlled chaos. With the return of the infamous Trash Can game & some Minute to Win It, we really enjoyed this past week’s Club Tuesday. And we have a lot more to look forward to as we close out this month.

• BARBIESHOP SuperClub. This Tuesday starting at 6:30. We also have a special guest — Micah Odgen (of Kanakuk Institute alum of 2010), our up-and-coming comedian & stand-up riot. Join us for something quite remarkable.
• CASINO NIGHT. This Saturday starting at 6:00 at the K-Life Clubhouse. We’ll have some fun playing games & taking risks & leaving with a great message to challenge us about “counting the cost.”
• PANCAKE SATURDAY. Ladies, this Saturday starting at 10:30 am. Breakfast brunch with some goodies & even better fellowship. Check the Springfield K-Life website for more details. Cannot wait to have all the ladies come over (I missed it dearly this past weekend).

And stay tuned for future changes for Springfield K-Life. The Lord has definitely been challenging us to stay flexible & to trust in His sweet & perfect will. And oh, are we ready to see what happens with Him alongside.

get krunk.

it’s been an extremely busy last week — and we loved it.

club tuesdays, super k, parents’ night out, & a little branson adventure for the krunktober dodgeball tournament. club was great with a little “rip your face off” & the “roxanne challenge.” we didn’t mess around with the paper bags or crackers; we were all about some lil’ sweet competition. we loved our second gathering with our elementary students. they are a blast! full of energy & excitement & possible some sugar. it is after school, you know, & everyone’s looking for a snack. we jumped around until our a-lot-older-than-we-think legs gave out at ozark mountain gymnastics: around 50 kids showed up for our parents’ date night deal. fabulous. saturday entailed some dodgeball for several k-life junior high boys. for me? finishing up a wonderful pancake saturday to drive down to bring leftover muffins & take snapshots of such intensity & ferocity. it was a BLAST.

new development? check out k-life on 99 hit fm radio monday, wednesday, & friday mornings. me, david, & our leaders will be on to chat about the ministry, live life via the microphone, & basically have a ton of fun in the relatively early hours of the morning while folks are being transported to school or work. check us out for the next few weeks.

what’s coming up? club tuesdays. weekly small group gatherings. superclub next tuesday. casino night the night before halloween. k-life evening of giving on november 13th.

we’re full of action & fun. and we enjoy ya’ll.

pancake saturdays.

So, on Saturdays, girls come & gather at my house for pancakes & other breakfast goodies. Sometimes eggs. Sometimes leftover dessert in my fridge (aka everything pumpkin & fall-like). It’s quite glorious. I think it’s so fun to cook & hang out on a Saturday morning. While a good number of the boys are in small groups, girls eat & chat. It’s a great trade-off.

2) parents’ night out on friday night at ozark mountain gymnastics.

we are so so so excited about the heartbeat of k-life kicking off this week — SMALL GROUPS. as much as we thoroughly enjoy throwing a high-energy, super-crazy clubs every week, we love the intimacy & the growth & transformation that occurs within small groups. if you want to see the LIST for small groups, check it here.

and for all the ladies in the house, pancake saturday is happening again this week at my (xuan’s) house. it’ll be absolutely delish. call 479-381-2232 for directions.

hey ya’ll — this week was an absolute whirlwind! what exactly have we been up to? a lot, a lot, a lot.

• small groups are organized & set up — look forward to being contacted! david, our leaders, & i will be meeting next week with ya’ll.
• we love school lunches. cherokee, what a blast. stay tuned for us (or one of the leaders) to be hitting your school SOON. let us know where & when!
• CLUB TUESDAY was hilarious. why? norwegian nose-dive with kids diving on the floor & being ingenious. slow-mo bowl (video will be posted as soon as possible). students, invite all of your friends — especially for the month of october. we’ll be keeping tallies for the $200 BEST BUY GIFT CARD. bring the most & win.
• upcoming events? instead of a fall festival, how about a fall getaway? parents’ night out october 15th at the ozark mountain gymnastics center. take a friday night date & we’ll take your kids. done  & done. and for november, get ready for a k-life evening of giving: a way to give back to an organization desiring to make a difference.
• SUPER K officially kicked off yesterday with around 20 kids showing up for an afternoon hangout. we love our elementary school kids & think they are absolutely SUPER. truth.

Food Fight results.

At this very moment, as we speak (via blog)…

• Pictures are getting edited from the first big monthly event. And they look AWESOME. Let’s be honest.
• I’m still combing through my hair that’s still slightly crispy from the “slime” (flour/water mixture) & watching flakes fall out.
• 30+ days have passed since the start of the grand springfield adventure for David & I. And we’ve packed those days FULL.

Things are trucking along with plenty of milestones underneath the belt: Kickoff SuperClub, Burger Bash, normal Club, & Food Fight. This week? The first Thursday afternoon Super K for our 3rd to 5th graders. I could not be more excited, especially with the amount of familiar K7 faces that came through this Saturday giving me hope that they’ll be back very soon.

Be sure to check the Photos page soon for the Food Fight pictures. And did you know that you can download the PICTURES off the site? Sweet action. Basically, we’re there to capture the Kodak moments for ya’ll. Get excited. From Kickoff to Food Fight and what’s to come…we got them ready for you.

Heart of worship.

Club was awesome Tuesday night — with a great-looking & great-sized crowd for both Junior High & High School Club. We had fun with the Presidents’ game & William Tell Ninja Blowdart & switched gears to hear my testimony. So so fun.

And for the first time this year, we had worship. Sweet sweet worship to praise His name & lift up our lives as a fragrant offering to Him. Beautiful.

Gimme some Burger Bash.

Burger Bash was a BLAST. From all of the families & their sweet kids, to the dancing (tutorial to doing the “Go Buck” dance coming soon), to the ridiculousness of announcements (Charlie getting pied in the face), to some fun games, to taking a visit to the doctor’s office (actor of the week: Graham Foster), to David’s personal testimony, and the ultimate highlight: NASA SETE. Yes, that was a ridiculous run-on but just imagine the building excitement in my voice (via typed words).

We are SO thankful for Nasa — a fellow Institute graduate & forever family. He flew in from Florida to come be a part of Springfield K-Life. What’s ahead for him? An upcoming rap album for a new label. Finishing up his master’s degree with JBU. Traveling with Joe White for Men at the Cross conferences. Coaching varsity basketball at a private Christian school in Florida. He rocks. And don’t worry, we’ll let you know when his album finally releases (oh, the anticipation).

Get ready for normal club times starting this week. Junior high, 6:30-7:45. High school, 8:00-9:15. And do not forget about this weekend’s FOOD FIGHT. Think epic.
